Malaysian Bank Appoints New Chief Fintech Officer

Malaysian bank has appointed Olivier Crespin as chief fintech officer, according to various media sources. "I am thrilled to welcome Olivier to the CIMB family, to head our newly set up CIMB FinTech, which is our very own FinTech hub for us to experiment and realise our digital ambitions," said CIMB group chief executive Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz. The appointment highlights the bank’s investment into the burgeoning sector of financial technology as its business strategy.
Crespin will start his new role at CIMB FinTech in June 2017. He is a French national and is a graduate in International Business, Trade and Tax Law from the Universite de Metz in France. He has more than 28 years’ experience in banking.
The bank stated that one of Crespin’s biggest achievements was the “introduction of India’s first completely paperless, signatureless, branchless mobile banking, based on biometrics and artificial intelligence”.
